today's pixel art:

a framed pixel painting of a sunset over a mountain and lake
  • worked with 100X100 canvas
  • i felt like trying something new, i never draw landscapes really - i could definitely use more practice with this kind of thing but i think it's ok
  • i was thinking about how pixel art can be kind of like...impressionistic? is that the right word? because it's so small sometimes you're just putting blobs of pixels to try to represent something...hm hm hm
  • i should try to think about shadows and how light might reflect on water more

4/25/25

today's pixel art:

a strawberry cake dessert with whipped cream and fresh strawberries
  • worked with 80X80 canvas
  • today i tried to take more time working on the shading
  • i watched a video yesterday by Pixel Overload that i think had some good tips:
  • i definitely wanna work on trying not to "pancake" when i color, i can see how that makes stuff look too flat!
  • i'd also like to try hue shifting out

today's pixel art:

Flower Button 1a Flower Button 1b Flower Button 2a Flower Button 2b Flower Button 3a Flower Button 3b Flower Button 4a Flower Button 4b Flower Button 5a Flower Button 5b Flower Button 6a Flower Button 6b
  • wanted to try to make buttons that have 'unpressed' and 'pressed' versions
  • worked with 75X75 canvas
  • i think the flower/star shape of them is ok but i'm not super satisfied with the colors, i need to learn color theory lol
  • if anyone wants to use them - feel free!

4/22/25

today's pixel art:

the pokewalker toy from heart gold and soul silver - this pixel art features a wonky little hoppip
  • tried out a 128X128 canvas
  • kinda wondering if i should've used a different color from pure black for the outline
  • hoppip looks...interesting lol, i tried
  • i keep just trying to make things that i have around my desk...wonder what else i should try?
  • maybe next time i'll try animating again

4/18/25

today's pixel art:

Pu from Yu Yu Hakusho
  • tried out a 64X64 canvas
  • worked on shading
  • still turned out to be smaller than i want, but better than yesterday

4/17/25

today's pixel art:

a tiny tamagotchi
  • got more familiar with Aseprite
  • worked with 32X32 canvas
  • realizing now maybe that's too small afterall, will try a larger canvas tomorrow
  • please enjoy this laughably tiny tamagotchi lol

4/16/25

today's pixel art:

a little bunny smiling with hearts
  • started this log
  • tried making a little bunny animation on a 32×32 canvas in Procreate
  • exporting was tricky - i wanted it to be 32X32, but had to make it much bigger to export it without blurriness
  • remembered Aseprite and installed it on my computer
  • my new plan is to make the pixel art in Aseprite or Pixquare and just use Procreate for other things/concepts!
