Zines

I really love making zines! Here are two I’ve worked on:

I'm part of the team behind this zine! We're currently working on our 3rd issue :)

I made this for my band’s 2022 release show!
My Zinemaking Resources & Tools
- I use Affinity Publisher 2 to format and lay everything out. I find it easy to work with and they have a free trial period. I like that it's a one time payment also, I rly respect when people ditch the greedy subscription model.
- If I have to make graphics, I use Procreate!
- I have an Epson ET-3710 printer that I love. It's a couple years old but has been reliable for printing out hundreds of copies of my zines. I have had to replace the maintenance box a few times, but I find the ink lasts for a long time before I have to refill even after printing out like 100 zines. One of these days I should really do the math and figure out exactly when I need to refill.
- A long-arm stapler and 1000's of staples, naturally.
- And other than that, just lots of cheap plain printer paper I suppose! It would be nice to get into fancier paper someday but it does the job.
- Lastly, this guide from Jalopy Design on Technical Grimoire was a lifesaver for me when I was first trying to figure out how to set up Affinity to make zines in the size that I wanted! (A5 - basically standard printer paper folded in half)
